Meet Aaron Trecartin, AIA

Architect, Husband, Father, Dog Lover, Preservation Enthusiast, Sailor

Aaron is the principal architect behind Building Block and lives in a 1920s Tudor Revival cottage in Dallas’ Junius Heights Historic District with his wife Libby, two young daughters, and their obsessively ball-fetching dog named “Lady”. When not practicing architecture, you can spot Aaron on White Rock Lake in his Com-Pac 16 sailboat.

A proud Dallas native, Aaron has architecture degrees from Texas A&M University and The University of Texas at Arlington and is a registered architect in Texas. Prior to launching Building Block, Aaron is an experienced architect with over $500MM and 3MM square feet of built work across North Texas and the US. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Preservation Dallas, White Rock Boat Club, Munger Place Church, and is actively involved in his neighborhood.

Aaron has particular interest in Dallas’ historic and conservation districts and focuses most of his work in these neighborhoods. He has resided in Junius Heights Historic District since 2016 and actively serves on multiple historic districts’ neighborhood task forces. As a homeowner, as a practicing architect, and as a task force appointee, Aaron regularly participates on each side of Dallas’ preservation process. His passion for older homes is evident in Building Block’s carefully crafted designs that enhance each home and its neighborhood.
